Wylde style
Fashion and interiors influencer Maxine Wylde is known for her bold and eclectic flair. The opportunity for a styling session at the new Porsche Centre Melbourne Fitting Lounge has made her new Porsche Macan just as vibrant.
How would you describe your personal style, Maxine? And why is style important to you?
I would describe my personal style as vibrant and fun. My wardrobe is a mix of colourful statement pieces and mismatched vintage treasures, and I love them all equally. I can’t wait to get dressed each morning; every day is a new chance to express myself with colour and joie de vivre.
Your work evidently encompasses the worlds of fashion and interiors. Did your knowledge and past experience within these fields inform how you personalised your new Macan?
Colours, textures, materials, shapes and patterns all interact in both interior design and fashion. It was a joy to apply them when creating my Macan and I definitely touched on a bit of colour theory with my choices! I love that I’ve been able to translate concepts I practise in interior design and apply them to the world of fashion; and now, in a dream come true, I’ve been able to apply them to my personalised Porsche Macan!
You clearly have a love for colour and vibrant designs. Where does this come from?
I think it has evolved from my love of art and fashion. After studying interior design, I took the concept of texture and layering into my fashion sense and from there I’ve developed this deep obsession with creating outfits that replicate fun colour combinations that thoughtfully use layers and textures to create different effects.
Fashion and style can span decades and generations. What’s your favourite era, and why?
This is a tough question! I really love the silhouettes from the 1960s: the super mod vibes, miniskirts, turtlenecks and the fun accessories from that time. I also love how the trends from the ’90s are translating into our current fashion landscape. I love the iconic runway moments from the 1990s involving stars like Kate Moss and Claudia Schiffer. So many big brands and names from modelling created this exciting time for fashion.
When it comes to colour, Porsche designer Daniela Milošević says, “I have my own mixing bench and I love reproducing recipes or creating new ones myself.” What’s your creative process?
My creative process is quite sporadic. It’s because I have an impulsive nature. I find that ideas come to me at the most unexpected times and places, which means I have to act on them in the moment. When I’m putting together outfits, I love to lock myself away and experiment with different pieces, layering and mixing colours and textures. I guess this makes my wardrobe my mixing bench!

Personal session:
The Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur Fitting Lounge makes individualising your Porsche enjoyable and memorable. What is it about Porsche that attracts you?
On the surface, I love how Porsche uses vibrant and bold colours. Miami Blue and Viper Green are shades a lot of car companies would shy away from, but not Porsche. On a deeper level, the brand is a perfect example of what happens when you bring together the best essentials – technology, style and performance – stay true to them, and refine them over time. Fashion and interior design are the same in that the best practitioners and brands stay true to their essentials and evolve them with people’s desires.
Why the new Macan? What stands out for you?
The silhouette is the first thing that stands out for me. It’s so sleek. And I’m impressed by how it combines the performance of a luxury sportscar with innovative technology. It’s hard not to be impressed by the way it drives. Because it’s an EV (electric vehicle), it feels like the world’s most comfortable sportscar.
Tell us about your personal session at the Porsche Centre Melbourne Fitting Lounge!
I had such a great time at the Porsche Fitting Lounge. I love how many customisable options there are. Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur gives you so much freedom to express yourself with colours, materials and textures. The team are so knowledgeable and make the whole process easy and fun. Above all, I really love the exterior/interior combination I’ve chosen!
Why did you choose these colours and finishes for the new Macan?
Purely because I love blue and brown together and I’ve never seen a car in this colour combination.
Take us on your ideal day out and road trip in the new Macan.
Down along the Victorian coast. The drive is always as good as the destination and scenery, and the old beach towns, yummy bakeries and pier walks that draw me there.
