Porsche Cars Australia is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a bold tribute to the natural landscapes that define the nation known as down under.

Porsche Cars Australia has unveiled four specially themed vehicles to mark the brand’s 75th anniversary in Australia. These four visually striking cars – a Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, a Macan 4S, a Taycan 4S Cross Turismo and a Cayenne S – have been uniquely styled and specified to reflect four distinct natural settings from the country’s 7.6-million-square-kilometre landscape.

“These four special cars symbolise the legacy and future of Porsche across Australia,” said Daniel Schmollinger, CEO and Managing Director of Porsche Cars Australia, speaking at their official public unveiling during this year’s Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix during March.

Wave finder:

The vibrant Ipanema Blue Metallic on this Taycan 4S Cross Turismo reflects Australia’s crystal-blue eastern waters.

“Each car has been styled to reflect different iconic Australian landscapes, specifically the rugged west, the country’s eastern surf coastline, the top end’s tropical rainforests and the southern cliffs along Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

“These four cars align timeless Porsche design with regional identity, culture, lifestyle and purpose. And best of all, they are available for any of our customers to replicate using the Porsche online car configurator.”

The styling inspiration for each car was drawn from the world-famous natural settings found in Australia’s North, East, South and West.

Wild west:

Western Australia’s ancient landscape inspired this Porsche Cayenne S finished in Paint to Sample Ipanema Brown.

GO NORTH is a stunning Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid finished in Paint to Sample Emerald Green, which takes its inspiration from the rainforests of Queensland and the Northen Territory. GO EAST is a vibrant Ipanema Blue Metallic Taycan 4S Cross Turismo inspired by Australia’s crystal-blue eastern coastline. GO SOUTH is a Gold Bronze Metallic Porsche Macan 4S inspired by the dolomite sea columns in the southern Tasman Peninsula. GO WEST is a Porsche Cayenne S finished in Paint to Sample Ipanema Brown and reflects the ancient terrain of Australia’s 2.5-million-square-kilometre western state.

A number of Porsche Sonderwunsch (“special request” personalisation) touches feature in these four commemorative Porsche cars, including “75 Years of Porsche in Australia” bespoke vehicle keys (with key cases) painted to match their exterior colours, bespoke illuminated door sill guards customised with each vehicle’s cardinal direction, as well as bespoke interior floor mats embossed with “75 Years of Porsche in Australia”.

Tropical oasis:

This stunning Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid in Paint to Sample Emerald Green was inspired by the rainforests in Australia’s far north.

Porsche in Australia

Porsche made its way to Australia in 1951 after Melbourne’s Norman Hamilton, who was in Europe to investigate new pump technology for Australia’s Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme, was overtaken by a Porsche development vehicle while driving on Austria’s Grossglockner pass. Hamilton happened to meet the car’s driver when they both stopped at the same inn in the next town. The conversation led to Hamilton meeting Ferdinand Porsche, which in turn led to a vehicle distribution deal, making him the second Porsche agent outside Europe after Max Hoffman in the USA. The first two Australian-market Porsche sportscars – a Fish Silver Grey split screen 356 Cabriolet and a Maroon 356 Coupe – arrived in Melbourne in early October that year. The rest, it can be said, is 75 years of Australia’s greatest sportscar history.
