Porsche Chronograph 1
The Porsche Design Chronograph 1 wristwatch was the first product to emerge from Studio F. A. Porsche after it was founded in 1972 by Professor Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi” Porsche, the designer who styled the first Porsche 911.
It was the world’s first all-black watch and the first to be created according to automotive design principles.
The Chronograph 1 has appeared on many famous wrists. Mario Andretti wore one during his Formula One championship-winning year. It’s also the watch Tom Cruise wore in the Hollywood blockbuster, Top Gun.
Today, the Porsche Chronograph 1 is a modern tribute to this horological design icon. This updated edition is made in Switzerland and features a matt-black dial, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and a case back that reveals the Porsche Design winding rotor.
The Porsche Chronograph 1 is also fitted with a tachymeter scale, rectangular baton hands and has a waterproof rating of up to 10 bar.
Each timepiece is individually numbered.
Butzi Porsche reset the sportscar world when he created the Porsche 911, a car that led to the Chronograph 1, which reset the watch world.
“I always wanted to create a watch to match the car,” he once said.
The Porsche Chronograph 1 is available from the Porsche online store.
