Nürburgring Nordschleife: lap record for a manual 911 GT3 with Weissach package – and Jörg Bergmeister at the wheel.
The objective: the fastest lap in a series production car with manual transmission. The stage: Nürburgring Nordschleife. The team: Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister and a 911 GT3 with Weissach package. The sun is shining bright as Bergmeister makes his way onto the 20.832-kilometer course in the 375 kW (510 PS; 911 GT3: Fuel consumption* combined (WLTP) 13.8 – 13.7 l/100 km, CO₂ emissions* combined (WLTP) 312 – 310 g/km, CO₂ class G , CO₂ class weighted combined G ) sports car, with an ambient temperature of 12 degrees and an asphalt temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. With the clock ultimately stopping at 6:56.294 minutes – under the supervision of a notary – the 911 GT3 with manual six-speed transmission beats the record of a competitor with a much more powerful engine by over 9.5 seconds. With extensive optimization of all the performance-relevant vehicle components, Bergmeister is even 3.633 seconds faster that afternoon than the predecessor model (992.1) with Porsche dual clutch transmission. “The new 911 GT3 inspires even more confidence at the limit,” explains Jörg Bergmeister. “It can handle bumps and curbs much more smoothly.” Thanks to the eight percent shorter ratio, you can actually “feel the increase in power at the rear axle” during acceleration, which translates to success across the board.
