Pioneer in Electronic Music
French DJ David Guetta has worked with stars like Rihanna and Nicki Minaj, sold more than 100 million records, and received numerous awards. Christophorus had the opportunity to speak to him during the filming of Speed of Light.
David, what was your first reaction when Porsche approached you about Speed of Light?
I felt honored. Porsche is such an iconic brand – this collaboration is absolutely fantastic. You can immediately feel the extraordinary legacy and the quality that has defined the brand since it was founded. It’s a childhood dream for many people to own a Porsche.
Do you see similarities between Porsche as a sports car manufacturer and your music?
Yes, of course! I love the combination of tradition and a clear vision for the future. That rings true for Porsche – and my music. When I compose, I try to incorporate current trends. But the theme of the song is always timeless. Titanium is such a beautiful, timeless composition. The song was written ten years ago and is still played at every party. That makes the Future Rave remix the perfect complement to the sports car. Super modern, but with a classic core.
You drive a Taycan Turbo GT in the film. What do you think of the sports car?
The design is insanely beautiful. It’s probably my favorite Porsche right now. I like the fact that it’s electric – and still so powerful. When I heard what the car is capable of, I thought to myself, “Oh, I don’t know if I want to push it to the limit.”
You performed on the solar tower balcony, which is more than 200 meters high up. What was that like?
I have been to Dubai many times. But I didn’t know anything about this place. It’s totally crazy. All the mirrors, the reflections, the solar tower – it’s like the tip is on fire. I’ve never seen anything like it. These are the things you can only dream of. Being part of this project has truly inspired me.
