Porsche Moments
Successful motorsport season for Porsche: numerous titles for the teams and drivers in the IMSA and WEC championships.
Porsche Penske Motorsport’s factory team clinched all of the titles in the top GTP class at the final of the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The two Porsche 963 finished the ten-hour Petit Le Mans race at Road Atlanta in second and third place – enough to secure the overall win in the manufacturers’ standings. Factory drivers Dane Cameron of the US and Felipe Nasr from Brazil were victorious in the drivers’ standings. The manufacturers’, team, and drivers’ titles in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup also went to the sports car manufacturer based in Stuttgart. In the GTD Pro class, the customer team AO Racing celebrated the manufacturers’ championship, the team title, and the drivers’ crown with the 911 GT3 R. Former Porsche Junior Laurin Heinrich of Germany is the new champion in the top category for GT cars. In the FIA World Endurance Championship, too, the 2024 season culminated in success for Porsche: At the beginning of November, in the season final in Bahrain, factory drivers Kévin Estre, André Lotterer, and Laurens Vanthoor secured the drivers’ world championship title in their Porsche 963 with starting number 6.
