Inspiration for innovative thinking

Porsche trainees are the pillars of the company’s future. Andreas Haffner, Member of the Executive Board for Human Resources, and Albrecht Reimold, Member of the Executive Board for Production and Logistics, see a shift in perspective, stays abroad, interdisciplinary experience, and excursions as their central task. An outing that the two board members took with sixteen trainees is a good example of the company’s appreciation of young talent. The top managers chauffeured the young Porsche employees in a Taycan to visit the Experimenta in Heilbronn, the largest science center in Germany and the most innovative in Europe. Here you’ll find 150 people working in fifty different professions. The world can be explored in a science-based, hands-on exhibition with 275 discovery stations. From cell research to film production or the art of composing music, Experimenta sheds light on every imaginable topic and proved to be the ideal setting for a workshop on environmental sensor technology. Acquiring knowledge through experience—at Porsche, this also includes an opportunity to ask a member of the executive board about their career path.

Farewell to a bestseller

No 911 generation has ever been more successful: 233,540 Porsche 991s have rolled off the production line in Zuffenhausen since 2011—with a Speedster as the brilliant finale. With almost 90 percent of the car’s components newly designed, this generation presented one of the most significant steps of development in the history of the sports-car icon since 1963. The lightweight body was just one of many innovations in the 991 generation; for the first time, a 911 undercut its predecessor on the scales. The longer wheelbase, roll stabilization, and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) set new standards in driving dynamics. Just like its predecessors, the 991 generation can look forward to enjoying an unusually long life span, while the new Porsche 992 continues the 911’s success story.

The paper used for Christophorus is certified according to FSC standards, and the inks do not contain any mineral oil ingredients that are hazardous to the health. The printing house generates its own electricity in a cogeneration plant. In printing this issue, up to 52 percent less CO2 was emitted compared to conventional energy input.

1,000 kilometers of desert

When Mark Webber drives across the Arabian Peninsula in the Porsche Taycan, extraordinary encounters are almost inevitable. The meeting with Jacky Ickx is a moment where origin and future come together. The Belgian racing legend, who turned seventy-five earlier this year, doesn’t arrive in the desert alone: he’s brought along the Porsche 959 in which he finished second in the 1986 Paris–Dakar Rally. They come face to face in the red-tinted sand: the 959 as an innovation leader of the past century and the first fully electric Porsche. It’s also an epic moment for Aseel Al-Hamad—a passionate driver and the first woman on the board of the Saudi Arabian Motorsport Federation (SAMF). She’s a competent codriver for the Australian on his tour in the Taycan from Dubai to Riyadh, the starting location of Formula E. Other fascinating stopovers for Webber’s team: a meeting with Timo Bernhard at the Dubai racetrack; a visit to one of the world's largest solar parks, which is located in the emirate; and a tour of Abu Dhabi’s Masdar City, one of the most sustainable urban communities in the world. But above all, he welcomes the desert into his soul: “Intoxicating images in endless silence—a spectacle of nature that touches you.” Watch the video to accompany Aseel Al-Hamad and Mark Webber in the white Taycan on their epic thousand-kilometer road trip.
